Paranormal Investigator — Hide & Seek Paraquest THE SOCIAL INTROVERT OF THE PARANORMAL
Sarah has been part of Hide & Seek Paraquest for around four months.
A coffee-drinking, cat-loving social introvert, Sarah is just as comfortable staying home as she is meeting new people and exploring haunted locations.
Her fascination with the paranormal began in her early teens, driven by a combination of fear and fascination.
For Sarah, the paranormal can be experienced through touch, hearing and sight.
WHY SHE JOINED HSPQ
Sarah already loved paranormal investigation and brought a background in customer service to the team.
Joining HSPQ gave her the opportunity to combine the two — investigating the unknown while helping guests have an enjoyable and memorable experience.
She enjoys introducing people to paranormal investigation and watching them experience the excitement for themselves.
CHILLINGHAM CASTLE
One of Sarah's most memorable investigations was at Chillingham Castle.
During the investigation, she experienced disembodied whispers, physical sensations, an object rolling, growling sounds, and visual and audio evidence.
It was an investigation that provided plenty of experiences she hasn't forgotten.
HER FIRST PARANORMAL EXPERIENCE
Sarah's first significant experience is difficult to pinpoint, but one particular incident has always stayed with her.
She saw figures crossing a long hallway.
She then had the unmistakable feeling that someone was standing behind her.
When she turned around, she found herself face-to-face with something she couldn't explain.
WHAT SARAH ENJOYS
Sarah enjoys all aspects of paranormal investigation.
She particularly enjoys intelligent responses, but there's also something about the adrenaline, fear and rush that comes from investigating somewhere unfamiliar in the middle of the night.
For her, that combination of curiosity and nerves is part of the fun.
HER MUST-HAVE EQUIPMENT
Sarah's essential piece of equipment is a torch.
But equipment isn't the only thing she relies on.
Sarah pays close attention to her own senses and what she is experiencing around her.
THE TORTURE CHAMBER
One of Sarah's strangest experiences happened inside a 1,000-year-old castle torture chamber.
While investigating, she felt a presence and then heard a loud whisper directly in her right ear.
When asked how many unexplained experiences she's had, Sarah's answer is simple:
“Too many to list.”
A HEALTHY SCEPTICISM
Sarah maintains a sceptical approach, particularly when it comes to claims of demons, Incubi, Succubi and other supposedly demonic activity.
During one investigation where a location was said to have an Incubus, Succubus or demonic presence, Sarah didn't feel anything evil or demonic.
What she did experience was a presence and what she believed was residual activity.
For Sarah, the experience demonstrated why investigators should experience a location for themselves rather than simply accepting someone else's interpretation.
THE EXPERIENCE THAT CHANGED HER VIEW
One experience that significantly changed Sarah's perspective involved a disembodied voice speaking directly into her ear.
What made the experience even more interesting was that a friend experienced what appeared to be the same phenomenon only minutes later.
Experiences like that reinforced Sarah's belief that some things deserve further investigation rather than being immediately dismissed.
WHAT SARAH BRINGS TO HSPQ
Sarah brings excitement, humour and common sense to the team.
She is happy to look at experiences objectively, attempt to debunk them and consider alternative explanations.
Her customer-service background also helps her connect with people — whether they're living guests or, as she puts it, the “dead.”
THE HSPQ FAMILY
Sarah says HSPQ means a lot to her.
Finding people who share the same fascination with the paranormal isn't always easy, and being part of a team of like-minded investigators has made HSPQ special.
One of her favourite memories was an investigation at Bishops Palace with a small group.
The location itself was stunning, and the experience of investigating it with the team made it particularly memorable.
HORROR & PARANORMAL
Sarah's favourite horror film is IT.
When it comes to paranormal television, she enjoys Project Fear.
Her dream investigations would take her overseas to locations such as the Queen Mary and Gettysburg Battlefield, along with the historic buildings surrounding the battlefield.
IF SARAH COULD INVESTIGATE A HISTORICAL FIGURE
Sarah would choose Marilyn Monroe.
She'd want to explore the truth surrounding Marilyn's death and investigate the claims and stories surrounding possible hauntings connected to her.
IF SARAH COULD HAVE A PARANORMAL ABILITY
Sarah would choose the ability to:
Talk to the dead.
For a paranormal investigator, being able to communicate directly with spirits would open up an entirely different level of investigation.
SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT EXPECT
Sarah describes herself as an open book.
What you see is what you get — and she's happy to let people get to know the person behind the investigator.
WHY HIDE & SEEK PARAQUEST?
For Sarah, HSPQ is about much more than simply searching for ghosts.
It's about being part of a great team, helping guests have an incredible night and giving people the opportunity to experience paranormal investigation for themselves.
She believes HSPQ should show, teach and guide, rather than make promises about what guests will experience.
There are no guarantees.
There is no need to fake anything.
If something can be debunked, the team should say so.
Guests get the chance to use the equipment, step outside their comfort zone, explore historic locations and have fun while discovering what the paranormal may — or may not — have to offer.
“Keep an open mind, question what you experience, and never be afraid to look for another explanation.”
