BEK Paranormal Investigator — Hide & Seek Paraquest THE WITCHY INVESTIGATOR

Bek has been part of Hide & Seek Paraquest for around five months, bringing curiosity, intuition, determination and plenty of personality to the team.

Open-minded, slightly sarcastic and proudly a little weird, Bek describes herself as someone who “volunteered as tribute!”

She may be short, but she certainly makes up for it with personality and witchy energy.

BORN INTO THE PARANORMAL

For Bek, getting into the paranormal wasn't really a decision.

She was born into a witchy family, with mediumship and a history of witches running through her family.

As she puts it:

“I didn’t exactly get into the paranormal — I just eventually stopped pretending it was weird.”

The strange and unexplained have always felt surprisingly normal to her.

Bek has known from a young age that she had psychic abilities, and she's now learning to trust those abilities while exploring mediumship, energy and connections with the other side.

WHY SHE JOINED HSPQ

Bek wanted to take her fascination with the paranormal beyond simply being curious about it.

She wanted to actually investigate it.

Joining HSPQ gave her the opportunity to do that alongside a team of people who aren't afraid to explore the curiosities of the dark.

For Bek, finding HSPQ was a little like finding her people.

HER FIRST PARANORMAL EXPERIENCE

Bek's first memorable paranormal experience happened when she was only two years old.

She would apparently see her great-grandmother, Ethel, and would laugh as though she was being tickled.

She would then say:

“Ef fu fu, this he funny clown.”

A rather unusual conversation for a two-year-old — and one that became part of Bek's lifelong connection with the paranormal.

THE HUMAN PENDULUM

When asked about her most memorable investigation, Bek doesn't hesitate:

Being a Human Pendulum.

It's also one of the strangest experiences she's had while investigating.

For Bek, the Human Pendulum is definitely something everyone should try at least once.

A CONNECTION THROUGH THE SPIRIT BOX

Bek's favourite piece of investigation equipment is the Spirit Box.

And for good reason.

During one investigation, she was listening through the Spirit Box when she believed she made contact with a friend who had passed away.

The spirit reportedly provided the person's first and last name, demonstrated what Bek describes as intelligent communication and knew details about their friendship that she believed only the two of them would have known.

The spirit then gave Bek a message for the person's family.

For her, it was a truly amazing experience.

TRUSTING HER INTUITION

Bek has experienced numerous moments throughout her life that she can't completely explain.

She's experienced things such as:

Knowing things before she should Picking up on people or places without knowing their history Feeling changes in energy Experiencing moments where she thought, “There's no way I could have known that.”

These experiences have encouraged Bek to continue exploring her intuition and psychic abilities.

BELIEVING DOESN'T MEAN BELIEVING EVERYTHING

Bek keeps an important distinction when investigating the paranormal:

“For me, believing in the paranormal doesn’t mean believing everything is paranormal.”

She's open-minded, but that doesn't mean she automatically labels every strange occurrence as paranormal.

For Bek, curiosity and questioning are equally important.

WHAT BEK BRINGS TO HSPQ

Bek brings curiosity, intuition, determination and a slightly weird sense of humour.

She's not afraid to get involved, learn from the people around her or explore something outside her comfort zone.

And, of course, she brings a healthy dose of witchy energy to the team.

THE HSPQ FAMILY

For Bek, one of the best things about HSPQ is the combination of people, energy and experiences.

Her favourite team memory so far is the sleepover at St Arnaud.

Bek's favourite horror movie is A Nightmare on Elm Street.

Her favourite paranormal television show is Medium.

Her dream investigation location is the Conjuring House in Harrisville, Rhode Island.

IF BEK COULD HAVE A PARANORMAL ABILITY

Bek would choose the ability to:

See spirits in their true form.

For someone already exploring mediumship and psychic abilities, being able to see spirits exactly as they are would certainly take her investigations to another level.

She's a grandmother to two beautiful grandchildren.
