Inside the team
Curiosity with
purpose.
Paranormal Investigator — Hide & Seek Paraquest THE PARANORMAL GEEK
Charlene Eldershaw has been part of Hide & Seek Paraquest for around five months, bringing her love of the paranormal, crime, gaming and all things strange to the team.
A self-confessed geek and gamer, Charlene has always been fascinated by the unusual and unexplained.
A LIFELONG INTEREST
Charlene's interest in the paranormal began during childhood.
At around seven or eight years old, she started experiencing strange things in her home.
Those early experiences sparked a curiosity that has continued into her adult life and eventually led her to paranormal investigation.
WHY SHE JOINED HSPQ
Charlene joined HSPQ because the team simply felt like a good fit.
She wanted to be around people who shared her interests while continuing to learn, investigate and experience new locations.
COAL CREEK & J WARD
Charlene has a particular love for Coal Creek, but her favourite investigation location is J Ward.
The history, atmosphere and stories surrounding locations like J Ward are a major part of what draws her to paranormal investigation.
HER MUST-HAVE EQUIPMENT
Charlene's essential piece of equipment is a digital recorder.
Capturing potential EVPs and reviewing recordings afterwards is one of the aspects of investigation she finds particularly interesting.
THE J WARD MORGUE EXPERIENCE
One of Charlene's strangest investigation experiences happened at J Ward.
While sitting on a morgue trolley, she experienced the sensation of something sitting on her chest.
It's the kind of experience that can make even an experienced investigator stop and wonder exactly what happened.
HER APPROACH TO THE UNEXPLAINED
Charlene doesn't claim to have a huge collection of unexplained experiences.
Instead, she approaches each investigation with an open mind and a willingness to learn.
She remains particularly sceptical until she experiences something that genuinely challenges her understanding.
For Charlene, that ultimate experience would be seeing a full-body apparition.
WHAT CHANGED HER PERSPECTIVE
Over time, Charlene realised that she could sometimes sense spirits through physical reactions in her body.
Learning to recognise those sensations changed the way she approached investigations and helped her become more aware of what she was experiencing.
WHAT CHARLENE BRINGS TO HSPQ
Charlene brings:
An open mind.
Experience.
A willingness to learn.
She's also keen to continue developing her knowledge of paranormal equipment and investigation techniques.
Her willingness to listen, learn and question experiences makes her a valuable member of the team.
THE HSPQ FAMILY
Charlene's favourite team memory so far has been the Convent weekend.
For her, these experiences aren't just about paranormal activity.
They're also about the people, the locations, the stories and everything that happens during a weekend investigation.
WHAT HSPQ MEANS TO CHARLENE
For Charlene, being part of HSPQ means continuing to investigate and helping the public better understand the paranormal.
She enjoys being able to share experiences with others while encouraging people to question what they encounter.
HORROR & PARANORMAL
Charlene's favourite horror movie is The Conjuring 2.
When it comes to paranormal television, she enjoys Ghost Hunters International.
Her dream investigation location is the Conjuring House.
IF CHARLENE COULD HAVE A PARANORMAL ABILITY
Charlene would choose the ability to:
Hear spirits.
Being able to hear potential spirits directly would provide another fascinating way to investigate and communicate.
SOMETHING YOU MIGHT NOT EXPECT
Behind the paranormal investigator is a geek at heart.
Charlene's love of gaming and all things geeky is an important part of who she is outside the investigation environment.
WHY HIDE & SEEK PARAQUEST?
For Charlene, HSPQ provides a friendly environment where investigators can listen to each other's experiences, continue learning and help people understand the paranormal.
She enjoys being part of a team that can investigate seriously while also helping others learn how equipment works, exploring different investigation techniques and attempting to debunk experiences where possible.
Because sometimes the best paranormal investigation isn't about proving a ghost exists.
It's about finding out what really happened.
“Keep an open mind, question everything, and never stop learning.”
