Paranormal Investigator — Hide & Seek Paraquest HR PROFESSIONAL BY DAY. GHOST HUNTER BY NIGHT.

Brihony Gooch has been part of Hide & Seek Paraquest for around one year, bringing professionalism, emotional intelligence and a healthy dose of curiosity to the team.

By day, Brihony is an HR & HSE Professional.

By night, she's a ghost hunter.

She's also a Pisces, a self-described “Muggle,” collector of spooky stories, future owner of a Ghost Meter Pro, and a firm believer that sometimes the simplest equipment can be the most entertaining.

Especially cat balls.

And despite her fascination with the paranormal, Brihony admits that she's also someone who jumps at sudden noises after midnight and has occasionally been known to sleep with a lamp on after an unnerving encounter.

WHAT DREW HER TO THE PARANORMAL?

For Brihony, it all comes down to curiosity.

“A deep curiosity to understand what lays beyond the veil. To see the unseen. To discover the hidden.”

It's that desire to understand what might exist beyond what we can see and experience that continues to drive her interest in paranormal investigation.

She's not simply looking for a spooky story.

She's looking for answers.

WHY SHE JOINED HSPQ

Brihony was already fascinated by the paranormal when she decided to join HSPQ.

The team's reputation within the paranormal industry was one of the things that attracted her, along with a very personal goal:

She wants an undeniable paranormal encounter.

More specifically, Brihony wants to see a full-bodied apparition.

It's the piece of evidence she's hoping will finally provide the experience she has been searching for.

HER FIRST PARANORMAL EXPERIENCE

Brihony's first paranormal experience happened when she was just nine years old.

She saw her great-grandmother standing next to her bed.

It was an experience that has stayed with her and became part of the foundation for her lifelong curiosity about what may exist beyond the physical world.

BAIRNSDALE

Brihony's most memorable investigation so far has been Bairnsdale.

While she has experienced a variety of locations and situations during her time with HSPQ, Bairnsdale stands out as one of those investigations that has remained particularly memorable.

FAVOURITE LOCATIONS

Brihony's favourite locations to investigate are:

Mayday Hills

and

Coal Creek.

Both locations offer the combination of history, atmosphere and the possibility of encountering something unexpected — exactly the kind of environment that keeps Brihony interested.

WHAT PARANORMAL ACTIVITY INTERESTS HER?

Brihony's answer is simple:

All of it!!

She's interested in the full spectrum of paranormal experiences and isn't particularly restricted to one type of activity.

Whether it's unexplained sounds, movement, communication, visual experiences or unusual equipment responses, Brihony is interested in exploring whatever a location has to offer.

HER MUST-HAVE EQUIPMENT

There is one piece of investigation equipment Brihony absolutely doesn't want to be without:

Cat balls.

And there's a reason.

“Love the simplicity of them!”

Sometimes paranormal investigation doesn't need complicated technology.

Sometimes you just need a little ball sitting in the dark waiting for something to touch it.

THE SHADOW BEING

One of Brihony's strangest investigation experiences involved a shadow being.

A psychic in the group described seeing the entity slinking up the stairs.

The strange part?

Brihony couldn't see it.

The experience raised an interesting question for her about how different investigators can perceive the same environment in completely different ways.

EXPERIENCES THAT CAN'T BE EXPLAINED

Brihony has experienced things she can't explain.

One particularly unsettling experience happened while she was sleeping.

She recalls being kicked away one night.

Whether it was something paranormal, something physical or something that occurred during sleep remains unexplained.

But it certainly makes for an uncomfortable story.

THE SCEPTIC

When asked about a paranormal claim she remains sceptical about, Brihony chooses not to say.

And that's perfectly valid.

Not every opinion needs to be shared.

What is clear, however, is that Brihony approaches paranormal investigation with curiosity rather than blindly accepting every claim.

WHEN THE EQUIPMENT WORKS TOGETHER

One experience that has particularly changed Brihony's perspective is when multiple pieces of paranormal equipment appear to work in tandem.

For an investigator, seeing several different tools respond together can be particularly intriguing.

Rather than relying on a single device, the possibility of multiple independent pieces of equipment reacting at the same time can create a much more interesting investigation.

It's those moments that keep Brihony looking for something she can genuinely call undeniable.

WHAT BRIHONY BRINGS TO HSPQ

Brihony brings two qualities that are incredibly valuable during an investigation:

Professionalism.

Emotional intelligence.

Her professional background gives her a structured approach, while her emotional intelligence helps her understand and interact with the people around her.

Paranormal investigations can involve excitement, fear, uncertainty and strong emotions.

Having someone who can remain grounded while understanding those emotions is an important part of any team.

THE HSPQ TEAM

One of the things Brihony enjoys most about HSPQ is that it's never a dull moment.

She also loves the incredible variety of people and personalities within the team.

There isn't one particular favourite team memory that stands above the rest.

As Brihony puts it:

“Lol! It's hard to pick one.”

And sometimes that's the best answer.

When there are enough good memories, picking just one becomes impossible.

WHAT HSPQ MEANS TO BRIHONY

For Brihony, being part of Hide & Seek Paraquest is about:

Spending time with like-minded people while exploring the unknown.

It's about sharing the curiosity, asking questions and experiencing locations with people who understand why the paranormal is so fascinating.

HORROR & PARANORMAL

Brihony's favourite horror movie is the science-fiction horror classic:

ALIEN.

Her paranormal movie favourites include:

The Shining

and

What Lies Beneath.

Both fit perfectly with her interest in atmospheric, psychological and unexplained experiences.

WHERE WOULD SHE INVESTIGATE?

Brihony doesn't have one particular dream destination.

Her answer is:

“Everywhere! No word of a lie!”

From historic buildings and abandoned institutions to famous paranormal locations around the world, Brihony would happily investigate just about anywhere.

HER DREAM LOCATION

When asked which historical person's alleged haunting she'd investigate, Brihony chose something a little different.

Not a person.

A location:

The Stanley Hotel in Colorado.

Given her desire to experience something genuinely undeniable, the Stanley Hotel would certainly be an interesting place to investigate.

IF BRIHONY COULD HAVE A PARANORMAL ABILITY

Her choice might surprise people.

Brihony would choose:

The ability to read people's minds.

Not necessarily the most traditional paranormal-investigator ability — but certainly one that would make understanding people a whole lot easier.

SOMETHING PEOPLE MIGHT NOT EXPECT

Despite her interest in investigating the paranormal, Brihony admits:

“I get scared easily.”

Which makes the fact that she willingly walks into dark historic buildings in the middle of the night even more impressive.

Being scared doesn't necessarily mean you shouldn't investigate.

Sometimes it means you're brave enough to do it anyway.
